Windows for Continuing Education

The University of Freiburg, the Freiburg Fraunhofer Institute and the Fraunhofer Academy are developing a range of diversified, as regards content, occupational courses of study at under-graduate program level in scientific advanced training, a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

 

Structure

Employees, even with family, shall have the opportunity to further educate themselves on an academic level by modular system, combining individual and flexible small-scale units to higher degrees.

Two continuing education certifications, in accordance with the accepted standard of Swissuni, the renowned training association of the Swiss Universities, are relevant for the project "Window for Continuing Education": the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), which is awarded from 10 ECTS credits and the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS), which is awarded from 30 ECTS points onwards. The aim of the project is a broad range of academic advanced education of relatively small formats, which can - just like modular elements - be combined as desired to CAS or DAS degrees.

Freiburg Academy of Science and Technology - FAST

Within the framework of the project the Freiburg Academy of Science and Technology (FAST) is being developed. Using research-based further education FAST assist experienced employees from R&D departments in finding appropriate working groups at the University of Freiburg and the Freiburg Fraunhofer Institute and supports them in scientific research projects. Using the slogan "United in the project: Continuing Education due to Research and Development" FAST offers an innovative approach in scientific advanced training.
