Fraunhofer Academy in the US

"Teaching and learning roles are changing. Connective learning allows learners to teach learners" Clara Tu, Fraunhofer Academy

Fraunhofer USA was delighted to host Clara Tu, Program Manager from Fraunhofer Academy Germany, for a month in the US. The Fraunhofer Academy is mainly focused on the German and European market in offering technical training programs. In 2017 Clara Tu was on a fact finding mission to find out how valuable the US market would be for expanding Fraunhofer Academy's international activities. Together with Fraunhofer's partnering universities like Boston University, University of Maryland, Michigan State University as well as Carnegie Mellon University Clara Tu expanded Fraunhofer's network in a new area - creating lifelong learning programs with Fraunhofer technology and innovations.

Clara Tu also presented this way of knowledge transfer to Fraunhofer Centers. The Fraunhofer Academy is now supporting them to promote their inventions and innovations through training programs to companies and people who want to upskill in a certain technology area.

In the final week Clara Tu was invited to speak at Automation Alley's annual Conference about Global Industry 4.0. Dr. Patrick Bressler, Executive Vice President Fraunhofer USA, presented Fraunhofer's Initiatives in IIOT in the panel "Next-Gen Factories: Unlocking the Value of IIoT". In the closing panel Clara Tu discussed with other panelists including Dr. John F. Carrier, from MIT Sloan School of Management how skills and jobs will change because of industry 4.0 and IIOT. The conference was fully booked with 550 participants and will take place in November 2018 again.
